Why City Ministries?

City Ministries (an international ministry of Youth With A Mission) believes that we are to take the cities of the earth for Jesus Christ by influencing all spheres of society. Jesus Christ is calling people to the cities because He loves people and that is where the people of the earth dwell and where nations and cultures are shaped and formed.

Cities are spiritual strongholds of nations and God desires to change that, that they may become the place of blessing as we see the Abrahamic Covenant fulfilled from the cities to the nations of the earth.

GENESIS 12:1-3

"I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

The choice is ours, will the cities be a blessing or a curse to the nations they are in and to the peoples of the earth? We in YWAM City Missions believe that the cities can be a blessing!!! And that too many cities have been a curse to the nations and peoples of the earth for far too long and so we desire to change that.

We desire to bless the cities according to Jeremiah 29:7 "also seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord because if it prospers you too will prosper."

It is time for the peoples of the city, nations and the earth to prosper and we believe that God's Church has the answer for the cities. Only Jesus Christ can cause the cities to prosper through us.
